Crossroads of change
Today’s title comes from some anonymous reader who searched for it. I don’t think I have anything that will fit that search – until now.
To tell you the truth, there are people who search for some pretty strange things on our website – obviously, your searches aren’t included, of course – but this one sort of interested me – I like the sound of it.
The reason I like it is that we all reach crossroads in our lives. We hit a point where we have to make a decision – whether to continue on the path we’re currently taking, to take a new path, thus altering our destination and our life, or to turn around and go back the way we came.
Most people seem to continue on the path they’re taking – even if that path is the wrong one. Why? Because it’s a familiar path – a path they know, even if it’s the wrong path, even if it will never reach the destination they seek.
Many of us have “crossroads” thrust upon us. Illness, death, job loss, financial challenges – all of these “life events” will force us to choose a different path. For the rest of us, the decision remains: do we choose to take a different path at the crossroads, even if that path is unknown and terrifying – or do we continue on the path we tread each day – even if that path is wrong for us?
Well, the answer would be obvious – even to the oblivious – if we were taking a trip in an automobile. If we want to get somewhere, we take the road that takes us there.
And it’s the same answer here. If we are looking for a particular destination in life, when we come to the crossroads, we choose a path that will take us to our destination.
There may be multiple roads that lead to our destination at the crossroads – and in that case, we should choose the road that is best for us.
But if there’s only one road that leads where we want to be, we should choose it at the crossroads of change – and change our path and change our life.
